You will not need a bus inside the walls — Siena is walkable end to end in 25 minutes. But for the station, the hospital, or outlying neighborhoods, here is the system.

Key facts

• All city buses leave from Piazza Gramsci, just inside Porta Camollia.
• Single ticket: 1.50 euro at tabacchi, 2.50 on board. Valid 90 minutes.
• Most useful lines: 9 (station-center), 17 (hospital-center), S1/S2 (city loop).
• Buses to Florence, San Gimignano, Montepulciano, Pienza all leave from Piazza Gramsci too.
• Buy regional tickets at the Sena/Autolinee Toscane office under Piazza Gramsci, not at the tabacchi.
