Where Sienese Locals Actually Eat Pizza
Forget the pizzerias on Piazza del Campo. Here is where Sienese residents go on a Friday night.
# Where Sienese Locals Actually Eat Pizza
Ask anyone who lives in Siena where they take their family for pizza and the same three names come up. None of them are in the postcard square.
The ranking
1. La Napoletana 2.0
The current local favorite. Recognized by 50 Top Pizza, but the room is locals, not tourists. Neapolitan dough, wood oven, pizzas €12–16. Viale Sardegna 37 — outside the walls, which is precisely why it's full of Sienese.
2. Pizzeria del Buongustaio
Thin, crisp, old-school. Generations of regulars.
3. Pizzeria San Martino
Inside the walls, late-night friendly.
Local tip
Friday and Saturday: reserve. Tuesday and Wednesday: walk in. Sundays many pizzerias close — check first.
